After traveling in the Himalayas for 11 years, living in monasteries and doing retreat in a cave, Lisa Reinhardt thought she came back to the US to share what she’d learned about meditation. After an a-ha moment eating chocolate, however, things got really interesting. Now, as founder of Wei of Chocolate, Lisa delights in giving people permission to eat chocolate every day without guilt. Having compiled reams of research and distilled what exactly differentiates healthy chocolate from run-of-the-mill candy, she believes that a daily piece of chocolate can be not only a path to health & wellness, but a way to bring the benefits of meditation effortlessly into our modern, busy lifestyle. Lissa Rankin, MD is a mind-body medicine physician, founder of the Whole Health Medicine Institute training program for physicians and other health care providers, and the New York Times bestselling author of Mind Over Medicine: Scientific Proof That You Can Heal Yourself. She is on a grass roots mission to put the care back in health care, and to heal our broken health care system one doctor and one patient at a time.
Discouraged by our broken health care system and curious why some patients do everything right but still wind up sick, Lissa set out to discover why some patients experience miraculous cures from seemingly incurable illnesses, while others remain sick even when they receive the best medical care. She researched what really makes people healthy and what predisposes them to illness not just diet, exercise and standard healthy behaviors, but everything else. What she uncovered in the mainstream medical literature led her to develop a type of medical practice she terms Whole Health Medicine, based on the scientifically-proven healthy behaviors she shares in Mind Over Medicine. She is now leading a health care revolution to empower patients to heal themselves, while encouraging the health care industry to embrace and facilitate, rather than resist, such medical miracles. “How freeing it is to go to bed at night and not worry about what I ate that day. I am no longer a prisoner of food.” ~ Regina, Weight Loss Client, on How She Really Does It I wanted to share Regina’s journey with you because it is so damn inspiring how she has changed her life. Like you and me, she is a real woman with a real life that is busy, challenging, filled with happiness and sadness. There are days of struggle and days filled with gratitude and love. She does not want to be the “poster woman” or even tell others what to do. But she is willing to share her REAL experience. Because it is so easy to think “so and so ate this food, or did this form of exercise and that was the secret to her weight loss.” For her it was not one food, or finding the right exercise to do. In this interview, Regina goes deep on all the facets that helped her on this journey. You may be able to relate. 26 months ago she did not believe she could create the life she wanted. Over the past 26 months, she has created the life she so craved. I invite you to listen to her journey and maybe this can give you inspiration and insight to see what is truly possible for yourself. So often we look for the secret recipe, food, or blueprint for weight loss. We believe this “secret” will end the massive amounts of time and energy we spend on food + our bodies in our daily lives. We want to know what the magic food or exercise to incorporate into our lives so we can lose this damn weight forever! But when you listen to her journey, you will realize it was none of that – recipe, specific food/exercise program or blueprint. In this interview with Regina, we zoom in and out on her personal journey and how she has changed her relationship with food and exercise resulting in a byproduct of over 80 pounds lost. All this and not going on a diet. I hope this interview gives you insight and helps you or someone you know who may struggle with food, diets, exercise and is a prisoner.
